Gene Moutoux's Poetry

To obviate recondite research reports

Was querulous Quincy’s concern.

Obscureness, he thought, comes from profligacy

Of words, words, and more words, by dern.

Now Quincy was puissant and opulent, too,

With retinues stretching a mile.

His sycophant underlings patiently bore

His petulant words with a smile.

Till one day when Quincy, in scolding his staff,

Belabored word paucity’s praise,

A voice interjected: "Your lengthy remarks

Could better be said in a phrase."
